Leadership and change are hot topics at Melcrum's Sydney Summit
Communicators gather to focus on internal brand development and social media issues.
Melcrum's 4th Annual Strategic Communication Summit took place in Sydney last week, with delegates enjoying a wide range of local, national and international presentations.

The 3-day event brought together professional communicators
from education faculties and both the public and private sectors. Pre-summit
workshops were presented by the Hub's measurement expert, Angela
Sinickas and online communications commentator, Lee

Breakout sessions provided the chance to learn and discuss the challenges being faced.
Headline topics included leadership communication, change management and social media, with breakout sessions providing the chance to learn and discuss the challenges being faced.

chaired the first day of the event.

Social media in the spotlight
Jane Fenton, managing director of Australian
consultancy, Fenton
Communications, chaired the second day. Presentations
included a social media focus from Melcrum's Hub Australia Editor,
Alex Manchester; and Claudia Carr, a web communications officer at
the New South Wales district attorney’s
office spoke about "integrating with the intranet". Other speakers
were Jim Parkes, marketing communications manager at aerospace systems
developer, BAE
Systems, and Susan Burrell, head of research at Standard
Chartered Bank in Singapore.
Grossman closed the event with a collaborative session on improving the communication skills of leaders.
The event highlighted topics ranging from internal brand development in a conservative industry, to consistent messages in defence-development communities.
