Black Belt sees big focus on change
The latest black belt course in the UK helps delegates prepare for possible organizational change.
This week, 13 people travelled from around the UK and as far afield as Russia to Cranfield University’s Management Development Center to complete the second module of the Internal Communication Black Belt Program they began in February.
The course, taught by Sue Dewhurst and Liam FitzPatrick, of Competent Communicators, is designed to give internal communicators the tools to teach their teams how to improve business performance through communication. It covers a range of topics from strategy and planning to social media and change communication.
Getting ready to face the change
It was change that occupied the minds of the delegates on day 1 of the second half of the course.
With the recent economic shift, many delegates believed this course to be timely in preparing them for the organizational change that they may face in the near future.
Those individuals with an in-depth knowledge of how to address change, one delegate noted, will be the ones who are the most sought after in their department, within their company, and outside of their company in the future.

Developing skills the practical way
Using case studies and exercises, the delegates were tutored in the nature of change and how people react to it, as well as how to use internal communication to help both employees and leaders adjust to change.
Building confidence to face the challenge
It's this course content, several delegates commented, along with the benefit of hearing their peers’ experiences that has made them feel ready and excited to tackle the change challenge.
