Communicators meet for "radioactive" summer BBQ
Almost a year on, informal group of communicators still growing.
The London Area Communicators Group, (LACG) (a group of communicators who've connected online and worked together through Melcrum's Communicators' Network) was recently invited to a barbeque at London’s Imbibe Bar, to celebrate its success.
Meetings have taken place across the capital for 10 months, and they've become a permanent monthly fixture in many calendars.
Online networks facilitate personal meetings
Nearly 30 comms professionals from the online group gathered to meet “in real life”.
For the past year, Cordovan Digital's Matt O’Neill (pictured, below, right) – the Hub's channels and new media expert – has steered the a lively and enthusiastic gathering of professionals from a wide range of private, public and third sector organizations.
Meetings have taken place across the capital for around 10 months, and they've become a permanent monthly fixture in many calendars – social as well as professional.
Not quite your typical networking event...
Gossip soon flowed at the barbeque, which to spare any blushes really can’t be repeated here.
Scott Neilson (Deloitte) fired up one of his legendary never-ending Havana cigars (see the photos for proof). And, being the Solstice, those of a more creative bent were seen sporting neck and wrist bands made from multicolored luminous glowsticks. Spectating city-types steered clear of the strange radioactive party…
In years to come, the LACG barbeque deserves its rightful place between Ascot and Wimbledon on the social calendar. If you're not a member of "London Area Communicators Group" and would like to join us, head on over to www.communicatorsnetwork.com!
Have your say
Did you attend the barbeque? Have you had your own meet ups as a result of professional online networking?
