Internal communicators feeling upbeat about 2012

More than eight in 10 internal communicators expect to make a positive impact in their organization in the year ahead through technology, new initiatives and a positive attitude.
When asked the question: "How positive are you feeling about the impact you can make in your organization this year?" in a recent global poll by Melcrum, 83 percent of communicators responded encouragingly, with 33.3 percent saying they felt "very" positive and 49.7 percent feeling "somewhat positive".
Respondents are planning to create maximum impact in various ways: From adding technology to their communication mix, engaging senior leadership, introducing a new approach to internal communication and even just adding a positive attitude into their day-to-day work.
However, some expressed a less encouraging outlook for the impact they could make. Fifteen percent of respondents cited budgetary restrictions, lack of executive buy-in, change in management and poorly managed restructures (disempowering the comms team), and an uncertain future for the function itself, as the reasons for a downcast start to the new year.
