10 Tips for successful internal blogging
When VicRoads' CEO, Gary Liddle, heard a presentation on how Deloitte uses social media to support business improvement, he gave his communication team the green light to explore the idea of doing the same. VicRoads' chosen channel was the humble blog, which turned out to be hugely popular among employees. Below are 10 top tips on blogging from Rebecca Cattran, who led the successful project.

- Teamwork builds ownership – empower others to be part of your project and they will become key supporters and advocates.
- Accountability is critical – know who’s important for your project and what you need them to do to make it
a success.

- Choose a tool that works for everyone – so participation rather than technical know-how is the focus.

- Conversation is king – feedback and discussion through dialogue is powerful, especially when everyone can be part of it.
- Honour your commitments – be clear about what you will do by when, let people know if it changes and most importantly follow through.
- Be brave! – it’s not easy trying something new but it’s important to do your homework then give it a go - the learning is powerful and the benefits are many.
