This Week on the Hub

Harnessing the power of peer-to-peer communication

Forget newsletters, intranets and podcasts for the moment, your employees may be the best channel you have for getting the message across. But how can you use viral communication to best effect in your organization?

New research from Melcrum will be presented at the free Melcrum Member-exclusive event to be held in London on September 9th. Introducing the new report Viral communication in the workplace will be its co-producer Kieron Shaw.

Speaking about the successful use of employee video diaries during a period of major change at pharmaceutical company Pfizer, Shaw says, "Internal comms handing employees the cameras and asking them to tell their stories was the most powerful thing they could have done."

Also, find out why hub expert Bill Quirke thinks employees are now more credible as sources of impact on organizations' reputations.

Last week’s Hub Poll

Should emails answered via Blackberry, outside of regular work hours, be classified as work and count towards additional time off or extra pay?

The majority of you were divided between yes (45.9%) and no (44.3%).

A small 9.8% of you say you don't know.

Take this week's poll (see right).

"You can launch a million roadshows and you can stick up a million post-it notes but that doesn't necessarily mean that change has happened." Hear more from Kieron Shaw as he discusses the subject of viral communication.

Opinion of the Week

Jill Wedgejust addedKnow when to leave values out of communications

You can’t move for "values" in most organizations nowadays. But why can it seem that over-stretched comms practitioners are being asked to do the job of the senior leadership team?
